ART ELEMENTS BLOG HOP SEPTEMBER THEME: FOLIAGE

This is my initial time collaborating in an Art Aspects Blog Hop.  I was intrigued by the concept of foliage since that has been my topic for most of the decades I have been producing ceramic beads.  I commonly make a mold from plants and use it as the foundation for pendants, toggle clasps and cabochons.  I usually hand paint on the coloured glazes and nearly never use underglazes. The picture higher than is a sample of pendants in my standard way of making.

For some time I have been thinking about other methods of making leaves and bouquets.  I have a selection of dried leaves that have fallen off a rubber plant I have in the dwelling. I love their swish movement and lyrical lines and sort.

I resolved I needed to hand build my leaves and bouquets. These leaves (pictured above) and some Victorian botanical drawings have been my inspiration.  I constrained my resources to utilizing an orange wooden cuticle stick for makings the markings  on the leaves. My clay entire body was a white stoneware clay which I fireplace to cone 5 (a little bit earlier mentioned 2100 levels F.)  I began compact but as time went on my leaves bought greater and larger.

Hand built ceramic leaves even now damp.

When it came to glazing what I created I was a little bit stymied at 1st.  I determined to test some underglazes which I do not commonly like since they are so rigid.  But I wanted all those people markings to present up by way of the other glazes I used.  So I tried out out a black and a blue.  I was not unsatisfied with the end result.

What am I likely to do with all of these creations?  I prepare to use them in some of my free of charge sort peyote sew jewellery.  And some I have placed in my Etsy shop.

This has been a terrific knowledge for me to be in this blog site hop.
