Making Beads Doing the Twist

Not as well prolonged in the past I arrived throughout a package of beads deeply concealed in my stash.  I had acquired them at minimum 10 many years back in Freeport, Maine at The Beadin’ Path, a fantastic bead retailer that is no longer in organization.
There was a strand of beads that I genuinely enjoy nestled in between that very long ago obtain.

 I imagined I would attempt to make a set out of ceramic clay.  The tag offers a small  clue on how they may possibly be built. ( see textual content beneath photo previously mentioned)

I attempted rolling out some round beads and twisting them but that didn’t operate.  Then I got the thought that if they were first designed into a 3-d disk bead that probably that might  work. That seemed to be the solution but the twist was additional sophisticated that I had assumed.  I put my fingers on the glass Czech bead to get an notion of how to I would have to twist them.  It was quite awkward as the fingers on each and every hand would have to go in the opposite route.  I persevered and the to start with set of beads I created is in the photograph down below.

Considering that I did not take into account that my clay shrinks 12% through the drying and firing approach, mine are rather lesser than the unique strand but I am  delighted to use them in some of my freeform peyote sew perform.  I have a bracelet I am doing the job on that they would go properly with.

I also designed some in blue and white to see how they would search. 

If I make far more of the blue and white beads I assume I will skip the white element and just have them in blue.    

But the very first established of beads–  I am just mad about the shade and have been trying  it on other items as perfectly.

I was rather delighted with  how the earlier mentioned pendant came out and amazed how the shades had morphed in the course of the glaze firing.

So I tried it again on a larger piece and was additional than happy with the result

For me what operates when I am generating is to abide by my passion on even so circuitous a route it usually takes me.  In the conclude it will carry me right to my coronary heart and soul.
